Diablo 4 Item Upgrades
Item upgrades allow players to increase the item level of equippable items such as weapons, armor, and trinkets to a certain level. You can upgrade items at any NPC that accepts the appropriate currency.
Upgrade components are slotted into equipment to provide bonus effects and attribute bonuses. Most upgrades are slot-restricted but some are universal.
Rerolling
A player can roll an upgrade to an item in Diablo 4. This is done through the Level Up feature, which pauses your game and displays four randomly-chosen upgrades. The player is able to select one of the upgrades to continue the battle. Rerolling is the same price as a regular Level Up. However players should be cautious when selecting an upgrade as they won't know what the new stats will be until the item has been changed.
An item's upgrades are determined by the item's rank and rarity. Each level of an upgrade increases the power of the item by +3. A random extra stat may also be enhanced along with the primary bonus. Each upgrade level also increases the recycle value for an item's extra stats. Rerolling allows players to alter the stats of armor and weapons.

Universal upgrades are able to be installed on any type of equipment. These upgrades have lower rewards than the ones that are restricted to certain types however they are much easier to acquire. Requirements

This method is more flexible, but it requires some additional code. It is less suitable for systems with complex requirements.
Another option is to allow players to upgrade their weapons and armor. These upgrades, often referred to as Reforges by some, improve the stats of the item and reduce its cost. The power of reforges differs depending on the type, but the Orb of Transmutation or Orb of Embrace are the most powerful.
Costs
Upgrades can increase the physical power of gear, its spell power and health (for rings and armor) or provide an additional bonus effect to it when it is in your inventory. You can get upgrade elements through crafting or buy them from vendors. They can also be looted or dropped by other players on the Trading Post, or as a reward. equipment enhancement can be put into weapons, armor and trinkets. They can also be attached to gathering tools. However, the majority of upgrade components are not able to be replaced or salvaged except by using an Upgrade Extractor. Glyphs are the exception that can be salvaged by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Upgrades to an item can cost gold or Dilithium according to the item type. Many upgrades also require Flightstones or crests. The amount of Flightstones and Crests needed to upgrade an item is determined by the level of the item. Blizzard also sets a maximum upgrade level. The upgrade to the highest level is expensive, especially if you're upgrading PvE gear.
Upgrades can also alter the weapon's ammunition or damage die size. They can also alter its special weapon properties, such as its unwieldy or operative property, or its hand requirement. Certain upgrades can alter the appearance of a weapon.
While boosting stats is the primary goal of upgrades to items however, you must consider the cost of upgrading an item prior to making a decision.
